Dugie graduated from Glasgow University in 1988 and after a spell in mixed and large animal practice, moved to Parkside in 1990 to be able to develop his surgical skills, in particular orthopaedics. He became a partner to David Murdoch in 1994 and became the leader of the practice in 2012. Dugie is particularly interested in Orthopaedic Surgery and more recently in Laparoscopic Surgery too and was among the first vets in the UK to obtain a brand new qualification in the field (GPCert(Endo)). He lives near Holywell with his two sons and their Staffie-Jack, Ghill......aka Dr Gilbert.

David Murdoch

David joined Parkside as one of the original partners in 1979 after spells working at Glasgow and Liverpool universities as a lecturer in Gastroenterology. He is still one of the country's foremost authorities in canine gastroenterology and liver problems, accepting referral cases from other vets, and lecturing regularly at CPD events both in the UK and Europe. David keeps himself busy away from work, spending time with his wife, three daughers, five granchildren and his constant companion, Foxy the dog!

Emma qualified from Bristol University in 2012 and worked for three years in a mixed practice in North Wales. She spent a year in between her veterinary studies, obtaining a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, which she is still interested in. Emma also has a keen interest in both feline and canine Internal Medicine and Ultrasonography. Emma joined Parkside in 2015 and quickly established herself as a popular member of the team, with both fellow staff and clients. Away from work Emma enjoys cycling and exploring the North Wales countryside with Bradley the Labrador (another popular member of the team!!) and Cooper the Staffie.

Matt hails originally from Venice in Italy and has been with us since January 2015. He has worked in the UK for several years with a lot of experience in Emergency Medicine and Surgery, having spent a year with an Out of Hours practice.

Joan Riding-Smith

Joan has worked at the Practice for over thirty years ! first as a receptionist but for the last eleven years as Practice Manager. She lives in Thornton Hough with husband Phil, horse Dazzle, pony Brandy, and two whippets, Mavis and George.

Hayley Ashton
Head Nurse

Hayley joined Parkside in 1994 and gained the Registered Veterinary Qualification (RVN) in 1998. Hayley has been Head Nurse since 2005 and more recently qualified as an A1 Assessor and Clinical Coach. She is responsible for overseeing all our nursing duties and the training and assessment of our Student Veterinary Nurses. Hayley, Wirral born and bred, still lives here with her husband, two daughters and their Cocker Spaniel, Sam.

Gemma has worked at Parkside for 8 years and is about to complete her final examinations to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, having already achieved the ANA qualification. Before joining us Gemma worked at the RSPCA rehoming centre in Wallasey and a dog day care centre where she assisted in training classes. Gemma became a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in August 2015. Gemma has two rescue rescue dogs; Bolt, a Yorkshire Terrier and Cassey, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.

Steph joined Parkside in 2012. After gaining a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare she decided to channel her energy and interest into Veterinary Nursing. Steph is about to complete her first year of the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. She lives locally with her two dogs Ozzy and Lola and two cats, Dylan and Opal. Steph, Ozzy and Lola were extras in the recent BBC4 sitcom, Puppy Love!

Lisa has been with Parkside for over four years. Initially she worked as part of the Wallasey Village branch reception team, but has recently moving to the New Ferry branch to join the nurses and begin her two year Veterinary Nursing course. Lisa lives on the Wirral with her two children and Lux the Tabby cat.

Having finished his A Levels in 2014, Finn joined the Practice team in October 2014. Having established himself as a valuable member he hopes to begin his studies to gain RVN qualification in the summer of 2016. Finn lives in happy communion with his family and his best friend Captain the Labrador.

Jane McNoon
Senior Receptionist

Jane has been with Parkside Veterinary Surgery for three years and is the Senior Receptionist at the New Ferry branch. Jane is responsible for tge smooth running of reception for both consultations and surgical admissions. Jane also processes clients' pet health insurance claim forms. Jane has her hands full with Yogi, her cat, Colonel, a Japanese Akita, two grown up children and a young daughter!

Receptionist

Louise joined us recently and works as part of the New Ferry branch reception team. Louise has two children, a dog called Roxy and a cat called Pudley.

Receptionist

Julie joined our reception team in January 2015 and works mainly at the Wallasey branch. Julie and her husband were clients of the practice beforehand and currently have two Labradors, Maisie and Marley..........oh and two children, but they don't play fetch.
